Lake Life

We enjoyed another annual trip to Lake Powell. We are so lucky to have such great friends that let us crash their family vacation! It was so nice to have the tent trailer this year, too. Here's the campsite:

We had all our typical fun swimming, boating to the marina for ice cream, waterskiing, kayaking, water-sliding, digging in the sand, playing games and eating treats:

Jeremy made lizard leashes and took the kids lizard hunting. They caught one big one and a few small ones:

On the last day when we were just about packed up Jer decided to go on one last waterski run. Unfortunately he got hit in the face with the waterski. He was pretty bloody when they pulled him out of the water and I'm glad I wasn't there for that. Once the bleeding stopped he had a pretty jagged gash on his nose and I superglued it as best I could. One side was more swollen than the other and we debated whether or not to have someone set it or take him to the ER. He could feel the bones grinding if we touched it, which was making him nauseous. Typical Jer rested for a few minutes and then finished packing up and drove us home. His gash kept bleeding though.

The next day he woke up to this:

The x-ray shows it's broken straight across the bridge and pushed back. It' not crooked or affecting his breathing so he doesn't need surgery. We're grateful his injury wasn't worse and it wasn't one of the kids that got hurt. And he's already looking much better.

Another year of great memories!

Camping, Camping and More Camping

Last summer we had a serious lack of adventures--partly because I was pregnant and partly because Jeremy was so busy with the yard. We didn't want to waste another summer not making memories for our kiddos, so we decided to buy a tent trailer and make camping our go-to adventure. I'm glad we got it, as it does make camping much easier and more enjoyable for me. The boys love camping and I think it's good for them (well, all of us) to be in nature more and learn some outdoorsy skills.

The first trip we took was just us to Deer Creek Reservoir to try out the tent trailer. We took a small hike and played at the little beach area until it got too windy.

The second trip we took was with some neighborhood friends to Trail Lake in the Unitas. We kayaked at the lake, played in the little creek that ran through the campground, and the kids rode bikes. Thanks to the Checketts for inviting us along.

Next we headed to Iron Mine Campground also in the Unitas with some friends, the Hendricksons and Christophersons. It was the only trip I didn't bring swimsuits and the only one we needed swimsuits. There was a river prefect for wading and jumping in. It was lots of fun, even with the rain.

Nine Months

Aaron is now 9 months old. Oh how I love my squishy baby boy! He's still a mama's boy, but he says "dada" much more. He only says "mama" when he's crying. He can click his tongue, wave bye bye, and say "uh-oh" as well. He scoots a bit, but still doesn't crawl. It makes him pretty mad that he can't follow me around. He loves the water and playing with his siblings. He even wrestled his dad the other night--growling and everything. Mostly he's a happy, snuggly little guy. He is 21 lbs. and 29.5 in. long.

Cub Camp

Paul went to his first Cub Scout day camp. I got to join him on Saturday and it was lots of fun. He liked shooting with bows and arrows best. He was really good at the slingshot. I'm not sure what he did the first day, since I couldn't get too many details out of him. Sometimes it's sad that my little boy is growing up. I think I preferred when I knew about everything he did since I was there with him. Probably I need to be better about our bedtime talks. But he is growing up into a wonderful young man and we're proud of him.

Daddy Daughter Dance

On Father's Day weekend Jer took Audrey to a dance at a school near our house. I curled Audrey's hair and helped her pick out a pretty dress. Jer said she smiled the entire time. She loves dancing to Cinderella by Stephen Curtis Chapman with her daddy, so she loved dancing with him at the dance. When they got home she told me all about the treats and how much "memonaide" she had. She carried the pictures around for days. We love our girlie girl. I'm so lucky to get to be her mom for many more dances to come.
