Other Blog

So a while ago I started another blog, Glimpse, mostly to keep track of my ideas. I recently updated, so you're welcome to check it out whenever (there's a link on my sidebar).

Recipe Contest Winner

Thanks for all the great recipes! There wasn't one we didn't like. We finally tried them all and decided the winner is... (drum roll, please) Rachel with her fabulous roast. Loved it, even had it again tonight. Thanks again to everyone who participated and next time I do a contest I promise to do it quicker. :)
Rachel, let me know what restaurant you'd like for your gift certificate.

Sam Walking

Here's a video of Sam walking. It's a lot of fun having him toddle all around the house. He's already more steady than he was last week, and he's working on standing up on his own. He loves to carry things around while he walks or clap. He's at such a cute stage. He tries to say lots of new words and gives the very best kisses. He's also quite an eater lately and can eat more than Paul--he likes meat too, even though he still doesn't have any molars. Minus the whining and tantrums, he's just a doll.
We went to the zoo last week and the first thing we saw were the monkeys. After that, Sam would say the monkey sound for every animal. Now he loves to make the monkey sound whenever he hears the word monkey or even tonight when Paul was playing with his stuffed monkey. I tried to get it on video, but he wasn't in a very good performing mood I guess.

News

This just in:
We've been checking Jer's email almost every 5 minutes all weekend, hoping for the residency match results. We got home from dinner tonight and found out through fellow students that some people had heard if they had or hadn't matched. We had not heard anything. According to the website, matchers are notified first, then non-matchers. We figured we hadn't matched (un-matched sites were already posted too). The stress of deciding what to do next was more over-whelming than I imagined it would be. Our relief was very great when we heard we had matched with the Salt Lake City VA (the original email did not reach us for some reason). So, we're excited to say that we'll be here for another year. We still plan on moving (hopefully to rent a house), but it will be nice to be near family and the friends we've made. The residency is optional for Optometrists, but we felt that it was the best thing for his career as well as our family. It's paid (although not much and Jer will take a 2nd job) and will be for one year. Jeremy was an intern at the VA, so he knows the doctors and really enjoyed his time there. We're looking forward to this next step.
In other news:
Sam is finally walking! He's been standing and cruising for about 5 months now, so it seems like it's taken him forever to decide to venture out on his own. I'll try to post a video soon.
